Volunteering Aboard
Oyster Sloop CHRISTEEN

The 1883 Society

The WaterFront Center has developed a growing community of dedicated and energetic volunteers who best exemplify our goal of building a community of stewards ensuring that Oyster Bay will be an available resource for future generations.

Though Christeen was first built-in 1883, it was through the work of volunteers that the ship was restored, modified, and continuously maintained to shepherd students and passengers on education programs in Oyster Bay. Their commitment to our flagship and our organization has earned them the name of The 1883 Society.

Volunteering Benefits

To show appreciation for our volunteers, The WaterFront Center is giving back to those who give us their time and effort. Our new volunteer benefits program provides our volunteers with additional benefits, exclusive events, and recognition as they reach volunteer milestones.
